Trained as a 'careful' Scottish  accountant in Edinburgh which led to a life in finance in London, Jersey and latterly in Dublin. The Last position as the Country Manager of a large US bank. The London era was accounting in the wine trade, and stocking-broking/ investments. After retiral in 1993, and regretfully a widower in 1994, went to the Smurfit Business School, graduating with an MBA in 2002 (a very, very mature student but was kept 'young' at heart!). Interests, over the years, rugby, golf (now ex) and bridge, and now history. Four children spread around the world.
